![]() The SCA is a non-profit association created in January 2008, a project for now and for future, which opts for the electronic information management, an organization willing to continue exploring the bird-ringing possibilities as a study method, and as to training, to bring it closer to the new generations. The SCA Objectives • To promote bird-ringing as a basis for a better understanding of the ornithological values of Catalonia. • To provide with rigorous training environment for those who are interested in this study method. • To develop technological systems that help to improve the management, analysis and storage of the information generated by the association, paying special attention to the bird-ringing data. • To promote bird-ringing activity in order to increase knowledge and conciousness towards birds and the natural values of the country. • To promote participation mechanisms and collaboration among similar organizations. • To develop mechanisms and periodical activities that help to improve the communication among the Catalan bird-ringers. • To design, support and carry out research projects that involve scientific bird-ringing. • To promote the information and knowledge interchange among bird-ringing groups and individual bird-ringers within and outside the Catalan territory. • To support all the initiatives that may favour to scientific bird-ringing or serve to any of the association objectives. • To revise, update and innovate the bird-ringing techniques. • To support in creating the Catalan ringing scheme which allows to make the recoveries proceedings through the Internet. • To get a financial support for the encouragement and maintenance of the Catalan ringing scheme. Information Management One of the distinctive values of the Catalan ringing scheme is the model of its data management. It opts for the web address (www.rings.cat) instead of the postal address as for inscription for all the rings. We are creating an on-line database which will be constantly updated by its own users and where consults will be addressed. All this means considerable resource savings and will speed up many processes, especially the ones dealing with the recoveries. Provisionally for this you can use this form. Any recovery processed through this channel will receive immediate feedback. Postal address Societat Catalana d'Anellament Falguera, 56 08980 Sant Feliu de Llobregat (Barcelona) Please, send your questions or suggestions to info@rings.cat |
